KAISEI Canadian Double Diploma School (KCDDS), the only offshore school in the Tokai region that adopts the education system of British Columbia, Canada, has been established as the Double Diploma Department at KAISEI High School.
The Double Diploma Department is a bilingual program offered by KAISEI High School and KAISEI Canadian Double Diploma School. Since BC subjects at KCDDS and Japanese subjects at KAISEI High School are taught in parallel, it is possible to obtain both the BC high school diploma "Dogwood Diploma" and a Japanese high school diploma at the same time. This not only expands your university career options, but also broadens your horizons and gives you international literacy. All subjects at KCDDS are taught in English using the BC curriculum by teachers who hold BC teaching licenses, so you can receive a BC education while in Japan. Japanese subjects are taught in Japanese by KAISEI High School teachers.

Evaluation Policy and Practice

At KCDDS, The majority of student assessment and evaluation is based on teacher observation and classroom based activities and learning processes and tasks. The BC K-12 Student Reporting Policy is founded upon student proficiency, self-assessment, formative assessment, and meaningful communication to students and parents about how students are progressing.  There are five reporting events per year: two informal reports, and three formal reports including letter grades, percentages, and written comments.  During the school year, students receive frequent descriptive feedback from teachers based on a proficiency scale that describes students’ strengths, and areas for growth, and opportunities for further development

BC Assessment System

At KCDDS, whether assessment is course-based (e.g., rubrics), school-based (e.g., tests), or provincially-based (e.g., Grade 10 and 12 literacy or Grade 10 numeracy assessments), results are analyzed by educators to inform planning and practice. Discussions of assessment results are shared with teachers across the curriculum to set goals for individual students. Proficiency level scales are used by teachers and students to assess and evaluate student progress in relation to B.C. curricular competencies and learning standards. Results are shared with students to guide self-assessment and set goals for improvement. Results are also shared with parents to inform and support their children's learning goals. We also share formative assessment information and data with students' Japanese language teachers to support student learning in the double diploma system.
